We are having problems delivering mail to @btinternet.com addresses from
our VPS running Postfix on Debian Lenny. From the limited information I
found on Google it seems likely that the e-mails are being delivered but
then moved to the users webmail spam folder. In my case the (two) users
are not aware that they have webmail, but I believe they do (provided by
Yahoo?).

We use the same server for business and personal e-mails and the only
problem I'm aware of is with @btinternet.com addresses. Thunderbird on
the client machine is using the vs1 SMPT server with hostname jset.net.
Emails are delivered if we use our broadband provider's SMPT server (but
they are slow and frequently time out and not suitable for mobile working).
Any suggestions/configuration changes to debug this would be welcome.

Hi Martin,
I had similar problems a few weeks ago. It's true that BT's email is
handled by Yahoo - users can access it via the normal Yahoo webmail
interface. Messages sent by my VDS running Postfix were indeed being
delivered to the spam folder. However this seems to have been resolved
now, either by users clicking the "not spam" button or by me setting up
a valid SPF record a few days ago. (You can see Yahoo check the SPF by
looking at the received headers.)

FWIW, inconsistent message delivery to email servers run by Yahoo is the norm, and likely
does not indicate any problems on your end. They simply do an awful job, have done so
for at least 5 years, and show no signs of ever improving.

FWIW, you can apply for yahoo whitelisting here:

I've done this (even though I don't send "bulk" email - just "Your
order
has been dispatched" type emails). I've not had any feedback from
customers as to how effective it's been though.

I had a go at reporting a lost e-mail a couple of years ago. I had
traces of it having been accepted by their mail server from my mail
server, and I filled in a very detailed problem report on line.
In response I got an automated e-mail asking me to provide all the same
information again by e-mail. When I tried sending to the given e-mail
address my e-mail bounced because the address which they'd asked me to
send it to didn't exist.
They also quite simply lie on their information pages. Some of their
explanations say that your e-mails are being delayed because they've had
numerous complaints from their customers about spam emanating from your
mail server, and yet this can (and does) happen the instant you set up a
brand new mail server.
The only possible advice to give is to avoid BT/Yahoo as an e-mail
provider. They're incompetent and clearly feel they're too important to
have to improve.

I have tried a couple of time to join the Yahoo GeneWeb Group but got
the same sort of response from Yahoo about my server being a source of
spam. I actually send my startx emails through zen's smtp server so
don't have an mail server as such.
I have given up on trying to join and now rely on reading the archived
GeneWeb Group stuff, it isn't too big a loss as at least 50% of the
emails are written in French without an English translation included.
