What happened to IRC stats graphs and similar?
Do you mean in general or the #BitFolk ones in particular?
The #BitFolk ones fell into disrepair some time ago and even by that
time usage had dropped off quite a lot so I never spent the time to
fix them, though I do still have all logs of the channel.
I am actually trying to find time to graph lines (or words) per hour
since September 2009 just so we can see what the usage has been like
and what it's fallen to.
To answer where's the chat at? Perhaps people are
chasing fast news on a
few big sites. If this is the case, is r/bitfolk a sensible option? I
don't think it's one that I'd like, and it was on the questionnaire
either, but if that's where the people are, then is that going to reach
more users in a more convenient way to them? I hate myself for
mentioning it.
I am really talking about social chatter that isn't necessarily
about getting things done. My instinct is that it still happens
around even technical communities, but maybe not on IRC any more.
The r/bitfolk suggestion MIGHT see use, but I think only amongst
people that are already on reddit. That isn't really me, and I can't
see it being me, but I'm not opposed to its existence if someone
who's already on reddit wants to do that. 😀
Here though, I'm just wondering about chat.
Thanks,
Andy
