No. do-release-upgrade _is_ the upgrade tool that you should use
instead of apt-get/aptitude dist-upgrade.
However rather than take the advice of others, I'd recommend you
consult the official documentation first.

No. There's no need to edit the apt sources or run the dist-upgrade, it
does all those things for you.
