Hello,
If you're a customer running Debian or Ubuntu then you're most
likely making use of our apt-cacher. The apt-cacher is quite an old
version, has a few small problems, and doesn't support IPv6.
I'm looking to replace it with apt-cacher-ng but I'd like to test it
some more first.
If you'd like to help test it, please could you replace any instance
of "apt-cacher" in your /etc/apt/sources.list with "test-cacher"?
e.g.
deb http://apt-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com/debian/ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main
becomes:
deb http://test-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com/debian/ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main
No need to let me know if it works for you, only if it doesn't work
for you. :)

Seems to work OK to me.
Did seem to initially fail as it was trying to connect over IPv6, and
I'm not sure IPv6 is correctly configured on VM. Once I disabled IPv6,
it seemed to work OK.

Unlike apt-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com, test-cacher does have an IPv6
address, and hosts tend to use those first if they think they have
IPv6 connectivity. So those with broken IPv6 will encounter
problems.
Please do send in a support ticket so we can get your IPv6 fixed for
you.
If instead you'd rather disable IPv6 or prefer IPv4 there are some

Easy way to check is to look if the actual mirror has what you're
looking for:
http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/dists/
Note there's no wheezy/updates there.
Your sources.list file is actually wrong. $dist/updates normally
comes from security.debian.org (they're the security updates). See:
http://security.debian.org/dists/
There you have a squeeze/updates and a wheezy/updates
So your line in sources.list should actually be:
deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main non-free contrib
which when cached becomes:
deb http://test-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com/debian/security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates
main non-free contrib
Not to be confused with "$dist-updates"! Which are the updates
pushed from the main mirrors during the lifetime of the release,
i.e. the replacement for what used to be known as "volatile".
A sources.list for squeeze looks like this:
deb http://test-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com/debian/ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ squeeze
main
deb http://test-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com/debian/ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates
main
deb http://test-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com/debian/security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates
main
Replace "squeeze" with "wheezy" for yours (and add on non-free,
contrib etc. if you like).

Actually, I've got a success case that you'd probably be interested
in.
Due to a slight case of using the wrong xterm, I managed to switch
over my desktop machine at home instead of my VPS. I'm happy to report
that it currently works quite cheerfully from an arbitrary location on
the internet. :)

Yeah, apt-cacher-ng's access control leaves something to be desired
and basically has to be enforced with iptables.. which I haven't
done yet. :)

Surely the apt-cacher is restricted to the BitFolk LAN. Are you using
running your Internet down a VPN to your VPS?

He was using test-cacher, which isn't yet firewalled off. It will be
before apt-cacher.lon.bitfolk.com is pointed at it though.
