Linux radvd is (still) a heap of junk and I'd

That would prevent SLAAC¹ from working on your VPSes. For years,
VPSes have been set up without using SLAAC anyway.
Is anyone here using SLAAC on their BitFolk VPS currently?
I was going to say 'I do.', but then I got cold feet and realized I
actually don't. It is sufficient with a "post-up ip -d addr add ..."
right?
That would be what I would call a static configuration and I would
expect servers to be statically configured for IPv6 in most
circumstances. There are exceptions like maybe getting just default
gateway from RA, but that doesn't apply at BitFolk.
Anyway, I am using it at three of my networks,
haven't seen any
problems with it for a year or three. What's the junky bits?

Just curious what the issues are with radvd - I'm
using it here on my
home network and it appears to do just what you'd expect it to do.
Then again, this is probably the simplest possible setup - a single
subnet.
I use radvd at home too. It's fine for giving desktops their setup.
At BitFolk I find the constant disappearing and re-appearing of
network interfaces (e.g. when a VPS is rebooted) sometimes upsets it
a lot. Segfaults, hanging with 99% CPU usage, constantly spewing
things like:
kahlua radvd[7767]: resetting ipv6-allrouters membership on $interface
into the syslog every four seconds until the process is restarted.
Right now I have to have scripts to check it is running and scripts
to check it isn't running but consuming 99% CPU.
And well, if I don't need to run it then I'd rather not, regardless.
Cheers,
Andy
