When querying what host name?
Should I be concerned? I must access the ethernet
address to my VPS--not the name--from 'elsewhere'. I changed bind at least 24h
ago. Is the 'expire' time* of 7 days (current setting) responsible for this, or
is my problem more insidious?
That isn't what "expire" controls; TTL controls this. It may be the
TTL or it may be something else.

The TTL appears as the first line in a BIND-compatible zone file:

You can also override TTL on a per-record basis. Records without an
explicit TTL use the value as above. But as I say it may not be
that. We can check once we know what host name you are querying.
Cheers,
Andy
