I would have thought that a VPS could be provided in a locked-down
form - perhaps with a firewall running allowing very few services.
Then the senior admins can change things to their own way of
working, and those lesser beings have a platform which has some
basic security built in.
One of the draws for me is the fact that the VPS is a minimal system that
I don't have to strip stuff out of.
I provisioned a very, very small system, and becasue of that I don't want
uneccessary cruft running on the box before I even begin.
Multiple images: fine.
Default images bloated by stuff I just never want installed: no.
Sorry if this sounds a bit terse I'm running around (virtually) like a
blue-arsed fly.
