No - you're resolving it just fine
I am unable to ssh johnlewis(a)startx.co.uk getting
this error
ssh: connect to host startx.co.uk port blah: No route to host
That's because the DNS record for that domain (startx.co.uk) still
uses the 212. address
I can ssh johnlewis(a)85.119.82.129
That is because that is the IP address of your VPS, which is not in
DNS.
Can I assume that the domain names will get
resolved in a few hours
or thereabouts or do I need to do something else to get this
working.
You need to change the IP at which the A record startx.co.uk points.
It looks like this is hosted with Zen:
% host -t NS startx.co.uk
startx.co.uk name server ns0.zen.co.uk.
startx.co.uk name server ns1.zen.co.uk.
Try there.
Thanks, I have been into Zen Portal and edited the DNS configuration
there, but got warning it may take 48 hours to take effect. Lets hope
it doesn't take that long as I have several people (including my wife)
needing access to the Geneweb databases hosted on startx.co.uk
