As another VM customer, I can well understand your distrust of "customer
support" understanding the issue.
Have had similar problems in the past, and eventually discovered that it
was Virgin's non-responsive DNS service.
8.8.8.8 (Google's service) has been *much* more reliable. I've had no
problems since I put that first.
