Are you really running Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake)? It went end of
life June 1st last year:

Can anyone suggest a fix - or am I doing something
wrong?
If really running this release I'd say it would be best to upgrade
or migrate to a new VPS:

If not really running 6.06 then your /etc/apt/sources.list is wrong.
