Hi Andy,
You may recall recently a couple of us had time issues on Dunkel and I
gave your suggestion a try:

Can I ask you to try both of:
- Installing kernel linux-image-2.6-686-bigmem
- Remove "clocksource=jiffies" from your kernel command line
We have noticed timing oddities for the
"jiffies" clocksource on the
new servers, which run a newer version of Xen compared to other
servers. The default clocksource is "xen".
I suspect your problems will go away once you do this.
Unfortunately the problem is back!

As per before the real issue for me (and, I believe, the other user seeing
similar) was Dovecot falling over as a result.
Do you have any other ideas what the issue might be? Of course, I'm only
asking you in case you think it might be hardware(/Xen) related - if it's
an NTPD or other software issue then I fully accept you're not here for
such support!
For info, my uname -r is 2.6.26-2-686-bigmem and my Grub menu.lst is at
