(which means reboots for everyone).
… or you can make it go back to gzip:
$ sudo sed -i 's/lz4/gzip/' /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf
$ sudo update-initramfs -v -u -k all
(if that is the issue)
I shall experiment.
