If I understand you correctly, this will mean
that a Ubuntu Hardy slice
will become an orphan with no
upgrade path when LTS ends in April 2011.
Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) support runs till April 2013 on the server,
it's 2011 on the desktop.

Also note that Ubuntu supports LTS to LTS release upgrades. So when
the next LTS comes out (_probably_ 10.04) then you should be able to
go direct from 8.04 to 10.04.
