However their IT support advise: "Looking at
their logs it appears that
when they are doing the DNS lookup to find the MX records for your
domain its unable to find any records, this to me indicates a problem
with their DNS server, the site they have used to check
http://centralops.net doesn't seem to find any MX records for your
domain, but if I google MX Lookup and run the same test from at least
the top 5 MX Lookup sites I can successfully see that the MX records are
a.mx.apm-internet.net and
b.mx.apm-internet.net
As there is on one person who seems to be having this problem I would
suggest therefore that the problem is actually with the DNS servers that
they are using to route mail out, if multiple places were reporting the
same problem then it may be a problem with whoever hosts your domain."
Can anyone else verify that this isn't just a problem with my server?
I can't get an MX record for kohinoorfoods.co.uk from multiple VMs
on BitFolk's network, but the lack of answer is coming from what is
supposed to be their authoritative nameservers:
$ dig +short -t mx kohinoorfoods.co.uk @ns1.csiplhosting.com
$ dig +short -t mx kohinoorfoods.co.uk @ns2.csiplhosting.com
$
On further investigation, the IP addresses I am seeing for
ns{1,2}.csiplhosting.com are different to those that other sites are
seeing:
$ dig +short -t a
ns1.csiplhosting.com
95.211.9.55
$ dig +short -t a
ns2.csiplhosting.com
95.211.9.55
Other sites are seeing 66.228.127.200 and 66.228.127.201, which give correct answers:
$ dig +short -t mx kohinoorfoods.co.uk @66.228.127.200
10
a.mx.apm-internet.net.
20
b.mx.apm-internet.net.
Here's a
squish.net traversal of how the A record for
ns1.csiplhosting.com is being
worked out:
http://dns.squish.net/traverses/26b4711e91bcb6a42cc7fd11b2759343/detail
From this I would suggest that
csiplhosting.com have broken
something and soon most of the world is going to be getting
95.211.9.55 as the IP address of
ns{1,2}.csiplhosting.com.
Cheers,
Andy
