I am not keen on it since everyone gets 2⁶⁴-1 IPv6 addresses by
default and this will likely be increased to 2⁵⁶-1 by default at
some point.
By comparison everyone only gets one IPv4 address by default and the
option to have zero globally-routable IPv4 addresses may appear at
some point.¹
In my view that makes the two things fundamentally different.
However it has been suggested that customers could still manage the
contents of zones without running their own DNS servers, by doing
dynamic DNS. So I do hope to look into that.
