Don't know if it is related, but I have been having similar issues with
clamd, the panic log from exim4 contains entries such as:
2009-03-12 10:34:02 1LhiCm-0003mn-4K malware acl condition: clamd:
unable to read from socket (Connection timed out)
This is the most recent message however, so if related. may be fixed by now.
