I've done this (even though I don't send "bulk" email - just "Your
order has been dispatched" type emails). I've not had any feedback
from customers as to how effective it's been though.

Thank you all for your replies. I'll look into setting up an SPF record
although last time I considered this I seem to remember there were some
downsides to this (users using broadband provider mail servers?).
