If it's something you want to try, I'm sure I and others can advise
on here how to go about it. It's very likely to succeed but it may
not be trivial. Hard to say without seeing the snapshot etc..
Some steps from off the top of my head:
- Find out the format of your snapshot. Is it a disk image, a tar
file or what? Work out how to access the files.
- If you copied the snapshot over your VPS, would it be able to
boot? Would the /boot/grub/menu.lst work?
- Boot into rescue VPS, copy your snapshot over your VPS
- Would the old /etc/fstab mount the root filesystem correctly? What
changes would be required to the /etc/network/interfaces?
- Boot your VPS, hope for the best, fix whatever you missed :)
In terms of BitFolk doing it for you, hopefully you can see that the
above is easier said than done, so this is essentially sysadmin
consultancy. I'm guessing that's not what you're looking (to pay)
for.
The middle ground would be just migrating data and settings from
your snapshot to the running VPS, which might be tedious but isn't
going to require a possibly unwelcome learning process beyond
knowing how to access your files.
Cheers,
Andy
