So yeah, I'd agree that 100MB/s is very
optimistic, but I've
also been shocked just how much HDD performance is still
improving.
Of course, my actual point was that the time taken to write a full HDD,
end-to-end, assuming you can do it single threaded, seems to have been
stable at around 12 to 24 hours for a few generations of HDD now.
You still "just" have the logistical problem of whether to take your
machine out of service to do the array rebuild.
