I can't see anything immediately bogus. You could try removing the
"dns-nameservers" bit as it's not used now.

You can also try this:

$ sudo ifup -a --no-act

which will give some debugging. What does it say?

ifup will also be running things in /etc/network/if-pre-up.d and in
/etc/network/if-up.d so may be worth checking if anything you have
installed recently has put something in those directories.
