Hey Ross,

I've got a 64-bit Xenial kernel on my Trusty VM (with a generally 32-bit userland).

I seem to recall Andy had to switch a flag somewhere to make the 64-bit kernel work, so might be worth dropping a note to support before you switch.

Hope that helps,
James

Are 64-bit guests an option these days? I don't see the lm flag in
/proc/cpuinfo on my VPS.

Am I right in thinking that a 64-bit kernel with a 32-bit userland would
achieve Meltdown protection without the hassle of converting userland?
(Having recently crossgraded my home server from 32-bit to 64-bit Debian
I am a bit reticent to do so on my VPS. I got there but it turned into a
bit of a marathon.)

Ross
