My friend, who supplies me with my broadband, uses a company called KashFlow (www.kashflow.co.uk) to generate my invoices and handle payments. It allows me to set up a standing order to him, which is nice and convenient. Not sure how much it costs, but it's cheap (and free for small numbers of customers). My friend hasn't had any problems that I'm aware of.

KashFlow is an online accounting package, not a payment service gateway. While it's possible to integrate with ProtX and the like through KashFlow, you still have the hassle of choosing a provider, and obtaining a merchant account. It also does PayPal integration, but given Andy wants to shift away from PayPal, that's not very useful.

Incidentally, if anyone is looking for a quick and easy accounting package for small businesses, KashFlow is *excellent*. Oh, and if you find someone that's a referrer, you get a couple of quid a month off the monthly fee for the life of your subscription... *cough* ;)

(No affiliation other than I'm a customer of theirs)
