I think that I'd like to use the following process (but obviously don't setup test servers just for me):
  1. Change to use the test servers for about a week (I can easily change back if there's issues)
  2. Deal with any problems that arise - not expecting any (the loging helps you if I need to ask for help from you without bogging down the production ones).
  3. Be satisfied that there's no problems and change back to using the production servers knowing that all will be fine when you change their config.
