What happens if you just install libpython2.7 before wsgi? That particular package is available in 12.04 so it seems odd it says it wouldn't be installed.

Try disabling filesystem barriers.

To do this you'll need to:

- Boot into rescue VM

- mount /dev/xvda1 /mnt # for example

- edit /mnt/etc/fstab to add "barrier=0" to the list of options for
  the root filesystem, so for example it would read like:

  /dev/xvda1 / ext3 defaults,relatime,barrier=0

- umount /mnt

- sudo halt

- boot VPS
